How Many Continuing Education Hours Does My State Require?

Continuing education requirements vary depending on:

• Your state
• Your certification level
• Whether you maintain National Registry certification
  • Some states require you to maintain your National Registry. If your state does not require you to maintain your National Registry, you can allow this to expire. Keep in mind, you must follow your state licensing requirements. We recommend always keeping it current, but this is your choice!

NREMT Requirements

• EMR: 16 hours
• EMT: 40 hours
• AEMT: 50 hours
• Paramedic: 60 hours

State Requirements May Differ

Some states:

• Require additional hours
• Have category-specific requirements
• Require skills verification
