Can I Retake a Completed Course Within the Same Membership?

If you purchased an EMT-CE membership, you have access to the courses included with your membership for one year. During that membership period, you may complete each eligible course once for continuing education credit.

Can I Take the Same Course Again for Credit?

No. You cannot complete the same course more than once for credit during the same membership period.

For example, if your membership is valid from January 1, 2026 through January 1, 2027, you cannot complete the same course for credit in February and then complete that same course again for credit in November.

What If My Certification Cycle Changes During My Membership?

Your membership access period and your certification or recertification cycle are separate.

For example, your membership may run from January 1, 2026 through January 1, 2027, while your current certification expires on March 31, 2026.

You may use your membership to complete eligible courses for your current renewal before March 31. After your certification is renewed, you may continue using your membership to complete other courses for your next recertification cycle.

However, you cannot retake a course you already completed during the same EMT-CE membership period simply because you have entered a new certification cycle.

Can I Reopen Completed Courses?

If you need to retake previously completed courses for a new certification cycle, you will need to purchase a new membership.

When you purchase a new membership, your previously completed courses can be archived, allowing those courses to become available again for completion and credit during the new membership period.

Important:

Archiving your completed courses:

  • Does not delete your previous completion records. Your certificates of completion and CE records remain associated with your account.
  • Does not determine your certification cycle. You are responsible for knowing which courses you have completed and which recertification cycle those courses apply toward.
  • Does not provide additional credit for courses completed during your previous membership. You must complete the course again during the new membership period to receive credit for the new cycle.

Keep Track of Your Certification Cycle

EMT-CE can provide access to your courses and report eligible completions, but you are responsible for managing your certification and recertification requirements.

We recommend keeping copies of your certificates and tracking which courses you have completed for each certification cycle.
